WP hold breath on Carr

Cape Town - Western Province are sweating over the availability of No 8 Nizaam Carr ahead of Saturday's Currie Cup final against the Golden Lions at Newlands.

Carr limped off with a hip injury in the 18th minute of last Saturday's 31-23 semi-final win over the Blue Bulls.

According to Die Burger, Carr underwent a scan on Sunday and the results came back positive.

But he will be given as much time as possible to sufficiently recover and will in all likelihood be wrapped in cotton wool in the week's early training sessions.

Sikhumbuzo Notshe did well in Carr's absence against the Bulls and will start if the latter fails to recover in time for Saturday's final.

Meanwhile, centre/fullback Jaco Taute is also likely to be available after missing the semi-final due to a rib injury.

No! I think the smart thing to do is start again with a younger skipper ...

I'd keep Siya captain for now, but look to have someone else for 2027.
