Former All Black joins Ospreys

London - Former New Zealand international scrumhalf Brendon Leonard has joined the Ospreys from Italian side Zebre on a three-year contract, the Welsh Celtic League club revealed on Thursday.

The 29-year-old, who won 13 caps for the All Blacks, will compete for the number nine shirt with Wales international Rhys Webb from next season.

"I've got plenty of experience to call on, and I always want to use that to help my team-mates," Leonard told the Ospreys website. "But I'm of the mindset that you never stop learning, wherever you are in life."

Leonard joined Zebre from Waikato in August 2013. His last appearance for New Zealand came in a 19-12 victory over Wales in Cardiff in 2009.

No! I think the smart thing to do is start again with a younger skipper ...

I'd keep Siya captain for now, but look to have someone else for 2027.
