Racism allegations at Newlands

Cape Town - The Western Province Rugby Union has launched an investigation into alleged racist behaviour which occurred during last Saturday's Rugby Championship Test between South Africa and Australia at Newlands.

According to Cape Talk Radio, the accusations have been levelled at a group of men dressed in khaki outfits, who used the 'k-word' every time a Springbok player of colour made an error on the field of play.

When confronted by another member of the crowd, they got aggressive and verbally abused him for the remainder of the match.

Rob Wagner, managing director of WP Rugby, said they are investigating the incident. Wagner said they won't will not tolerate racism of any kind and if found guilty, the perpetrators would be banned from attending matches at Newlands.

The Springboks beat the Wallabies 28-10 in the Rugby Championship match.
