Cheetahs-Stormers: Ugly stats!

Cape Town - Statistics paint a bleak picture in 2014 for the Cheetahs and Stormers, who meet in a bottom-of-the-table clash in Bloemfontein on Saturday.

The Cheetahs are rock-bottom on 9 log points, with only one win from nine matches, while their Cape opponents are second from bottom on 10 points, having won two out of eight matches.

Sport24 took a look at some key statistics ahead of the South African derby:

The Cheetahs have missed the most tackles this season. On average they slip off 21.4 attempts per match.

They also have the lowest ruck success rate in Super Rugby (90%) and have averaged less time in possession (14:01 per game) than any other team.

The Stormers have averaged fewer points (15.4) than any other side this year, while the Cheetahs have averaged the most conceded per fixture (35.8).

Only the Brumbies (8) have scored more tries in the opening 20 minutes of matches than the Cheetahs (7) this season, while the Stormers have scored the joint-fewest (1).

But the Cheetahs have conceded at least five more tries (14) than any other side in the last quarter of matches this year.

It will therefore be interesting to see what tactics prevail on Saturday - the Cheetahs attack or the Stormers defence?

Kick-off at the Free State Stadium is at 17:05.
