Fardy calls for faster start

Cape Town - Brumbies flank Scott Fardy is demanding a much faster start from his men when they take on the Highlanders in Canberra on Friday.

Stephen Larkham's outfit were 0-13 adrift of the Rebels last weekend with 25 minutes on the clock and could not recover sufficiently to win.

In the previous round, against the Blues, it was exactly the same deficit after 36 minutes at Eden Park, which is a concern for the Wallaby.

"Over the past two games we've started very slowly. We've been slow into our rhythm and we've just got to address that and be better," Fardy told the Brumbies' official website.

Meanwhile, Brumbies flyhalf Christian Lealiifano highlighted cleaning up his side's discipline at the ruck as being one area they need to improve.

"I think we're a side that goes pretty hard at the breakdown," he said.

"Refs are going to be different all the time and interpret differently. We've just got to adjust and adapt quickly to that.

"We always talk about discipline and not giving away easy points. Lima Sopoaga is kicking really well so we've just got to be disciplined to not give away as many penalties."

Lealiifano, who is leading the backline in the absence of the crocked Matt Toomua, is however refusing to use injuries as an excuse for their poor recent form.

"I've got plenty of confidence in the other guys who have come in and around the group to step up and do their jobs as well," he said, with Tevita Kuridrani and Jesse Mogg possible returnees for this week's game.
