Bafana remain in 72nd spot

Cape Town - Bafana Bafana's FIFA ranking remained unchanged as the September edition of the rankings were released on Thursday.

South Africa remain as the 72nd best side in the world and remain in 17th place in the continental rankings.

The national team next face Mauritania on September 5 in their second Group M match as Shakes Mashaba's side bid to qualify for AFCON 2017. South Africa were unable to beat Gambia in their opening group match in June.

On September 8, Bafana Bafana tackle Senegal at the Orlando Stadium in the Nelson Mandela Challenge fixture.

Argentina continue to top the FIFA rankings with the only change in the top 10 being Chile swapping positions with England while Wales continue to occupy ninth place - their highest ranking ever. Wales are now ranked above England for the first time in their history.

Algeria (19th) and Ivory Coast (21st) and Ghana (27th) remain the leading African trio but all three sides failed to rise up the global ranking move in the past month.
