Coutinho: I'm ready to score

Cape Town - Brazilian play-maker Philippe Coutinho is ready to add scoring goals to his Liverpool task list this season.

Coutinho told Liverpoolfc.com: "I've always felt confident. Football is a team game and everyone has their own responsibilities."

"My role encompasses creating goal-scoring opportunities and scoring goals myself. Many people may see it as a task of higher responsibility.

"However, I've always been ready and prepared for it."

Liverpool required some major restructuring in the summer after Luis Suarez left for Barcelona and with the added Champions League pressure. Brendan Rodgers added Mario Balotelli and Rickie Lambert, while Fabio Borini returned from a season-long loan at Sunderland.

Rodger's plans for this season have been badly affected with Daniel Sturridge forced onto the sidelines.

Coutinho insists things are improving behind the scenes and will soon translate to on-field success.

"We've been getting to know each other little by little," he explained. "Each striker has their own style and training sessions help me understand how they prefer the ball to reach them. In my position, it's important that I create clear opportunities for them.

"I have to adapt my style to all strikers - as does any player who is in charge of playing in the No.10 role. We have to create open chances regardless of who the strikers are."

Liverpool face Hull City in Saturday's English Premiership action. The match at Anfield kicks off at 16:00.
