Cape Town - After the weekend's final English Premiership games were concluded, Sport24's Wade Pretorius has choosen the EPL Team of the Season.

English Premiership Team of the Season:

1. David De Gea (Manchester United) - The Manchester United goalkeeper almost single-handedly (or should that be double-handedly) ensured Manchester United finished in the Top 4 this season but the biggest question mark will be on his long-term future...

2. Branislav Ivanovic (Chelsea) - Ivanovic's role in the Chelsea side, I feel, is massively underrated - his surging runs down the right hand flank proved to be a constant source of attacking threat for Jose Mourinho's side. Ivanovic is one of several players who were brilliant for Chelsea for large portions of the season.

3. Aaron Cresswell (West Ham United) - Cresswell might just be the bargain signing of the season after joining from Ipswich for just £3.75 million. The West Ham United defender took many plaudits for his breakthrough season for the Hammers.

4. John Terry (Chelsea) - Played in every single minute of the Premier League season and was quite fantastic for the majority of those 3 420 minutes. Terry will be sorely missed when the day comes for his last Chelsea hurrah...

5. Jose Fonte (Southampton) - The Saints were ravaged by summer exits last season but the Portuguese defender remained behind. With Fonte at the heart of the Southampton defence, Ronald Koeman's men conceded the second fewest goals this season. Fonte beats Chelsea's Gary Cahill into the team and only by a whisker...

6. Cesc Fabregas (Chelsea) - Played a number of roles - both defensively and further forward - with aplomb this term under the expert guidance of Jose Mourinho. Holding the league trophy aloft on Sunday more than justified his reasons for moving to Chelsea and not Arsenal at the start of the season.

7. Alexis Sanchez (Arsenal) - 16 goals and eight assists in his first league campaign with the Gunners is more than enough to justify Sanchez's place in this side. The Chilean star was arguably one of the league's top 3 players. (Sanchez scored 24 goals in all competitions highlighting his abundant goalscoring abilities)

8. Gylfi Sigurdsson (Swansea City) - Made the weekly team of the week enough times to warrant his place in this side. Critics might make cases for the likes of Santi Cazorla, Nemanja Matic or the evergreen Estaban Cambiasso but Sigurdsson gets the Sport24 vote after starring for Swansea City.

9. Eden Hazard (Chelsea) - The Chelsea star can add a starting position in the Sport24 Team of the Season to his glittering 2014/15 season's CV - nothing left to write about his sensational 2014/15 season at the Blues.

10. Sergio Aguero - (Manchester City) - I find it amazing that so many people overlooked the Argentine's immense contribution this season. Aguero was the first name "penciled in" for this team after racing away with the golden boot award.

11. Harry Kane (Tottenham Hotspur) - Kane has had a brilliant season for Spurs and rightly takes his place alongside Sergio Aguero in this side. The young English striker's value sky-rocketed this term and many English fans will be hoping that the talented striker can continue his form in the national team's colours. (Kane was named the PFA Young Player of the Year this season)

No! I think the smart thing to do is start again with a younger skipper ...

I'd keep Siya captain for now, but look to have someone else for 2027.
