Cape Town - Manchester City captain Vincent Kompany has warned Liverpool to expect a different season to that of last year.
Vincent Kompany thinks that European competition will test Liverpool's new found status as title contender according to the Mirror.
"When the Champions League comes in, it will be a different
competition all over for Liverpool and for all the clubs involved, because it
will get more demanding as the weeks go on,” said Kompany.
Kompany warned Liverpool that with more than just the league to contest in this year, the 2014/15 season will prove to be very demanding on Liverpool's squad.
Manchester City face Liverpool at home on Monday, August 25 in a English Premiership encounter which will set down a marker for both sides.
“It’s the first time for me that it’s come so early in the
season. But if we perform like we did at Newcastle, we’ll be hoping to get the
three points." said the captain of the defending champions of England.
Speaking after City's 2-0 win away at Newcastle, Kompany was happy with the result.
"The win was important as it takes a lot of pressure off the Liverpool game.”
“It’s one of the most poisonous away games you can have at the start of the season and we did really well. I’m proud of the guys.” add the Belgian defender.
