Torres offered a lifeline

Cape Town - AC Milan are interested in making a double bid for Stamford Bridge pair as the Serie A side attempt to rebuild their squad.

Fernando Torres is being offered a way out of Chelsea according to the Express.

Following the exit of Mario Balotelli to Liverpool, AC Milan have indentified Chelsea's misfiring star Fernando Torres as his replacement.

The Italian club's vice-president Adriano Galliani hinted that his club are trying to sort out a deal for the Spanish striker.

"Our goal is to take a great striker."

"Fernando Torres? He is a great striker. Let's see if he comes or someone else. We are actively working." said Galliani on Italian television.

AC Milan are also interested in signing midfielder Marco Van Ginkel from Chelsea.

Galliani made his club's bid for the Dutch player public, he said: "Van Ginkel? We are confident."

"We have made our proposal to Chelsea and are now waiting on an answer. We hope we can get him."
