Read: Alves heading to England
The Brazilian was linked with a move away from Barcelona after the World Cup in July this year, but was determined to remain with the four-time Champions League winners. His current contract expires at the end of this season.
Alves made it clear which league he would be playing in next season, saying:"I am moving to England next year."
"I am going to play in the cradle of football. This will be my last year at Barcelona."
Both Liverpool and Manchester United could do with cover in the right-back position, Dutchman Louis van Gaal has another Brazilian already in that position in the form of Rafael, while Brendan Rodgers brought in Javier Manquillo on loan from Atletico Madrid as cover for Glen Johnson, who is currently injured.
Johnson is out of contract next summer and Rodgers could look no further than Alves to bolster his defensive line.

While most of the fans feel it may come down to the largest offer, Alves is in the final year of his contract and might go for a steal.
On his day, he arguably one of the best right backs in the game for the past few years with his ability to 'bomb' down the flank and whip in a cross, attributes which ensure he will be in demand in England.
Whichever club he decides to join, it will be a welcome addition to the English game.
