Johannesburg - Mamelodi Sundowns captain Teko Modise has called on his team-mates
to not read too much into their 4-1 demolition of Kaizer Chiefs in the
MTN8 quarter-finals.
The Brazilians entered the half-time break at Loftus Versfeld 4-0
up after Thamsanqa Sangweni, Tebogo Langerman and Edward Manqele all
marked their Sundowns debuts with goals, while Lebohang Mokoena also got
in on the action.
Reneilwe Letsholonyane managed a late consolation for Amakhosi
while Josta Dladla missed a penalty kick, but the damage had already
been done as Johan Neeskens' men booked their place in the semi-finals.
Modise admits he was delighted with the result, but remains all too aware of how things can change over the course of a season.
"For me , I'm not going to be fooled by (Sunday's) score. There is still a long way to go in the season," he told SuperSport.
"Obviously it's important for all of us to win trophies but to do so you need to be part of a team and to play for the team.
"It is every club's ambition and hopefully this year we'll get there.
"Right now, we have to stay humble because the game against
Chiefs was just the first and there will be many more to be played."
