Baxter: It's tough at the top

Cape Town - Kaizer Chiefs coach Stuart Baxter admits his side's undefeated start to the Premiership season has put a lot of pressure on his players, highlighted by their wastefulness against Polokwane City on Tuesday.

Amakhosi entered this week's Peter Mokaba Stadium clash having won nine and drawn two of their opening 11 league matches to sit 11 points clear at the top of the standings.

The Glamour Boys were then able to once more avoid defeat against Rise and Shine, albeit having played out a goalless draw, meaning second-placed Ajax Cape Town were able to trim the gap at the top down to nine points following their 1-0 win over Bloemfontein Celtic on Wednesday.

"The most popular result in the country will be the first time we lose. Every team in the country is going to be dead pleased," Baxter told The Sowetan.

"So, in that respect, the players are plugging away and are doing their best, but you've got to say if we had put one of those chances away (against Polokwane) then I'm certain we would have blasted away the other chances that we had in the second half.

"But while it stayed 0-0 and it become very, very important to win, the players could just not sort out their feet and that is what happens.

"You want everybody on the field to do the job.

"People might see this result as if we are stalling, but if we had put away one of two of those chance we would have been up and running again."
