Baxter: The boys played well

Johannesburg - Kaizer Chiefs coach Stuart Baxter was proud of his players’ performance in their 2-0 win over Polokwane City on Wednesday night.

According to the soccerladuma website, the coach commended them for their attitude, but admitted there is still room for improvement.

“I thought the boys performed well in difficult circumstances,” said Baxter

“You know you have to go and win the game and I think they played some excellent football.

“The easiest thing to do is to be a bit primitive when you’re very nervous, but I thought they played very good football.

“The fact that we didn’t get a second goal early was down to a combination of a lack of composure and also a couple of unbelievable decisions by the referee.

“I am happy with the three points.

Baxter also touched on the fact that the league title could came down to who has a superior goal difference between Chiefs and Mamelodi Sundowns, but insists his side are only focussing on themselves.

“It may well do (come down to goal difference),” added Baxter.

“We just have to keep playing, one game at a time.

“The biggest job is for us to keep on focussing on what we can do, making sure we don’t lose our discipline, lose our composure and keep playing.”
