Baxter set to bench star pair

Cape Town - Amakhosi coach Stuart Baxter will not throw star pair Siphiwe Tshabalala and Bernard Parker into the starting lineup against Orlando Pirates on Saturday, September 20.

According to africanfootball, Siphiwe Tshabalala and Bernard Parker will start the MTN8 final from the bench.

Both players have been star performers for the Glamour Boys but with both recovering from injury, Baxter will resist the temptation of calling upon the attacking duo from the start especially after failing to impress since returning to action.

“They (Tshabalala) have both been away for a long time and it is a big ask to just throw them into a difficult game like Tuks and expect them to be absolutely top class,” said Baxter.

“They both know they can play better than they did at the weekend, but that was the reason we played them this past weekend because I wanted players to be selectable and I wanted to make a decision on who I can select and who I can’t select.” added Baxter.

Baxter will most likely field a 4-5-1 formation with Brilliant Khuzwayo set to start in goals ahead of Reyaad Pieterse while Kingston Nkhatha will operate as the lone striker.

The match kicks off at 20:15.

Baxter’s likely starting XI v Pirates:

Khuzwayo, Masilela, Mathoho, Mashamaite, Gaxa, Lebese, Maluleka, Katsande, Letsholonyane, Masango, Nkhatha.
