Polokwane - Following their hard fought goalless draw against Kaizer Chiefs, Polokwane City captain Jabulani Maluleke says his team-mates were more motivated heading into the tough encounter against the Phefeni Glamour Boys.
Rise and Shine and Amakhosi shared the spoils in an exciting clash at the Peter Mokaba Stadium on Tuesday night.
The veteran midfielder hinted that the Limpopo-based team was just unfortunate not to have won the game as Essau Kanyenda missed a glorious opportunity in the closing stages of the game.
“Firstly I must give thanks to our supporters for coming out in numbers,” Maluleke told Sport24 in a post-match interview.
“We played very well as a team tonight and credit must go to the boys.
“We were attacking them in numbers and I’m sure that Chiefs didn’t expect us to give them a tough 90 minutes.
“We were more motivated ahead of the game and our coach kept motivating us again throughout the match from the sidelines.
“And we managed to keep our composure but it was just unfortunate for us not to score towards the end of the match.
“Now we just have to go back to the drawing board and try and give support to our strikers ahead of the next game.’’
City remained 11th on the log after collecting a point from the run-away leaders.
Their next game will be at home against Platinum Stars next week Wednesday.
