Cape Town - Orlando Pirates have confirmed that Kermit Erasmus and veteran defender Lucky Lekgwathi will miss Saturday’s Carling Black Label Cup against Kaizer Chiefs.
Erasmus had been expected to start the game for Pirates, but his place will now be taken by Thamsanqa Gabuza.
Both Erasmus and Lekgwathi were withdrawn due to hamstring injuries.
"I would like to thank you all for voting for me to be in the starting 11 of the Carling Black Label Cup,” Erasmus said via a message on his personal Twitter account.
"I'm sad that I won't be able to play tomorrow due to an injury I picked up during the week.
"I am really thankful for the support you all give us as players donning the Famous Black & White of the best team on the African Continent ORLANDO PIRATES (sic).
"I will be back very soon to put smiles on your faces scoring goals and celebrating with all of you. Thanks once again for showing me love."
Kick-off on Saturday is at 15:30.
