Cape Town - Kaizer Chiefs goalkeeper Itumeleng Khune has urged the club's fans to give coach Steve Komphela the chance to prove his worth.
Chiefs are unbeaten in all competitions this season, but that hasn't stopped a section of the club's supporters from criticising the tactics of the former Maritzburg United and Free State Stars coach.
Khune feels the criticism is harsh on Komphela, telling Times Live: "We all know Chiefs is a big team.
"South African coaches have not been given the chance to coach this team and the chairman [Kaizer Motaung] and the board rewarded the coach for his hard work.
"[Komphela] has travelled a long journey and deserves a chance. The way he prepares for matches is unbelievable. His team talks are unbelievable."
Chiefs will be looking to book their place in the MTN8 final this weekend, when they take on Bloemfontein Celtic in the second leg of their semi-final clash.
Amakhosi secured a 1-1 draw with Celtic away from home in the first leg and will be confident of recording a positive result against Clinton Larsen's men on Saturday evening.
