Khuzwayo ruled out of Carling Cup

Cape Town - Kaizer Chiefs goalkeeper Brilliant Khuzwayo has been withdrawn from the Carling Black Label Cup due to injury.

The Amakhosi and the Buccaneers will lock horns in the 2015/16 PSL curtain-raiser on Saturday at the FNB stadium but Brilliant Khuzwayo will not be doing duty between the goalposts for Kaizer Chiefs.

Khuzwayo was ruled out of the match after injuring two fingers during Thursday's training session.

The defending PSL champions confirmed Khuzwayo's injury on Friday, tweeting: "Brilliant Khuzwayo fractured his 3rd and 4th fingers just above the knuckles yesterday during training".

The Soweto giants added that Khuzwayo will also miss the start of the season.

"Brilliant Khuzwayo will now be out of the Carling Black Label Cup due to the injury and also the upcoming games." said Chiefs.

Kaizer Chiefs have not named Khuzwayo's replacement for Saturday's clash against Orlando Pirates but it appears unlikely that Itumeleng Khune will make a sensational return to the team.

On Thursday, the Bafana Bafana goalkeeper agreed a deal in principle to re-join Chiefs. (Read that story HERE!)

The match will kick-off at 15:30.
