Cape Town - Orlando Pirates administrative manager Floyd Mbele has revealed that Daine Klate was released when he joined SuperSport United.

Initial reports suggested Klate had merely joined Matsatsantsa on loan in January and the club decided not to make the deal permanent, leading to the belief he would return to Pirates.
Buccaneers administrative manager, Floyd Mbele, has thrown a spanner into the works by revealing they had fully released the player to SuperSport in January and he would not be returning to Soweto, regardless of whatever terms were discussed with Matsatsantsa.
“No, we will not [take him back]. We released Daine to SuperSport, so how is it that we will exercise the option to take him back after we loaned him?
“We didn't loan him to SuperSport, he was released.
"He is not part of Orlando Pirates anymore. He is free to join any team of his choice,” Mbele told goal.com.
Klate's previous spell at SuperSport under Gavin Hunt has led to rumours he is holding talks with the coach's current club Bidvest Wits.
It seems strange the 30-year-old is struggling to find a club to call home, considering the impressive Premiership record he holds.
Klate is the only player in the league's history to have won the league title five seasons in a row.
Former Bafana Bafana goalkeeper Andre Arendse is the only other play with five league titles to his name, but they were not consecutive.
