Mathoho has been a revelation in the heart of defence for both club and country, having been a part of four back-to-back clean sheets for Shakes Mashaba’s team and having played his role in 15 consecutive wins for Amakhosi.

According Soccer Laduma, Mathoho has created a centre of attention around himself following his great performances with two European clubs increasing their interest in the towering defender.

Affectionately known as Tower, the 24-year-old recently inked a new deal with the Glamour Boys until 2017 and his agent Tim Sukazi confirms that there is interest but he has a contract with Chiefs.

“Unfortunately I can’t say which teams they are, or what country they’re in, but I can tell you that they’re from significant leagues in Europe, said Sukazi.

“They’re interested but Erick has a contract with Kaizer Chiefs so we’ll have to see what happens.”

Meanwhile Platinum Stars face Chiefs for the fourth time this season when they clash in the quarter-final of the Telkom Knockout.

Overall, the teams have met in 29 matches across all competitions since 2003/04. Chiefs have claimed 13 victories compared to seven for Dikwena, while nine matches have been drawn.

Amakhosi have won five of their 13 home matches against Sunday's opponents, suffering just three defeats in the process.

Aside from this season's MTN8 meetings, Kaizer Chiefs have also beaten Stars in the league this season, winning 2-0 in Rustenburg in late August.

Kick-off is at 15:00 at FNB Stadium on Sunday, October 26.
