Mere extends his Dikwena stay

Cape Town - Platinum Stars captain Vuyo Mere has inked a new contract with the club, signing on for a one-year extension.

According to KickOff, Dikwena’s chairperson Ratanang Nke, has heaped praise on the skipper for his contribution to the club.

"He a great ambassador and true role model of the game,” said Nke.

"Platinum Stars have exercised its option on Vuyo Mere and are in further negotiations with his agent to cement his long-term stay beyond his playing career.”

Mere's deal was set to expire at the end of June 2015, but now it will see him remain at the club until June 2016. The former Mamelodi Sundowns and Moroka Swallows defender will turn 31 next March.

Meanwhile, Stars and AmaZulu will both be desperate for an Absa Premiership victory when they meet at Royal Bafokeng Stadium this weekend.

Last season, Usuthu won 2-0 in Durban before Dikwena claimed revenge with a 1-0 win in the return game in Rustenburg.

Kick-off is at 18:00 on Saturday, November 22.
