Cape Town - Orlando Pirates have reportedly offered Siyabonga Sangweni a contract extension that would keep him at the club until the end of the 2016/17 season.
The centre-back garnered plenty of interest from PSL rivals Mamelodi Sundowns last year, prompting the Buccaneers to offer him a two-year deal to prevent any potential departure.
While having put pen to that offer, the Sea Robbers are again sweating over his future at the club, with his current contract expiring at the end of the upcoming campaign, meaning he would be free to agree a pre-contract in January 2016.
And, as such, Pirates have moved to offer Sangweni a further 12 months, with the Soweto giants determined to keep hold of one of their star defenders.
Sangweni's billing as a fan favourite has been highlighted by his inclusion in the Orlando Pirates starting XI for the 2015 Carling Black Label Cup, which sees the side take on bitter rivals Kaizer Chiefs at the FNB Stadium on Saturday.
