Preview: Chiefs v Sundowns

Cape Town - Kaizer Chiefs will be looking to extend their lead at the top of the Premiership standings when they welcome defending champions Mamelodi Sundowns to the FNB Stadium on Saturday.

The league season may only be 10 games deep, but already Amakhosi are threatening to run away with the division, having won nine and draw one of their matches to open up an 11-point lead at the summit.

The Brazilians, meanwhile, have so far faltered in their title defence, winning just four of their 10 league matches to sit fifth on the table, although they are only one point adrift of a two-way tie for second.

However, anything less than the three points against the Glamour Boys would arguably end Sundowns' hopes of a successful defence of their crown as Chiefs would then be a whopping 15 points clear of the Tshwane giants.

On the team front, Chiefs coach Stuart Baxter has plenty of decisions to make regarding his starting XI, with no fewer than five first-choice players having only returned from international duty on Thursday.

Those men, namely Brilliant Khuzwayo, Mulomowandau Mathoho, Tefu Mashamaite, Reneilwe Letsholonyane and Mandla Masango will undergo late fitness tests, although George Maluleka is back to full fitness and available for selection.

Downs, meanwhile, will have to do without Tebogo Langerman, who is out through suspension, although he proves the only fresh absentee concern for coach Pitso Mosimane.

Kick-off is at 15:30.
