Johannesburg - Orlando Pirates midfielder Issa Sarr says he is enjoying his football at his new club following an award winning performance against Bidvest Wits on Sunday.
Pirates defeated the Clever Boys 2-0 in their MTN8 semi-final first leg encounter played at the Bidvest Stadium.
The Senegalese international won the man-of-the-match award on the day, pocketing R8 000 which he dedicated to the club's supporters.
“I am very happy here at Pirates,” said Sarr.
“I’m settling in very well at my new club. Thanks to all my team-mates and the club supporters. They always support us as a team and we are a happy family.”
Following their poor start to the ABSA Premiership campaign, the 28-year-old player believes an MTN8 win will be a confidence booster for the club heading into their next match against AmaZulu on Wednesday.
“I’m very happy we won today (Sunday). We needed this win because we didn’t start well in the league. And the MTN8 win will boost our confidence.
“We have worked very hard for this victory but it doesn’t end here. We still have the second leg to play. It was a physical game; Wits are not an easy team to play against. We knew going there that it will be tough.”
Victory for the Buccaneers put them in the driving seat heading into the second leg this weekend.
Pirates face Usuthu in their next Premiership instalment at the Orlando stadium.
Kick-off is at 19:30 on Wednesday.
