Soweto derby is 'for the fans'

Johannesburg - Former Orlando Pirates and Bafana Bafana midfielder Thabo Mngomeni hopes that the Carling Black Label Cup will provide some entertaining football on Saturday afternoon.

Mngomeni told Sport24 that both teams have exceptional players who always stand out.

“I just hope it will be an entertaining match, because the Soweto Derby is for the people,” Mngomeni told Sport24.

“I can’t really say which players will stand out ... it won’t be fair because both teams have exceptional players.

“I just hope some players will get a chance to play and showcase their talent ... as you know some players always stand out more than others.”

The FNB stadium will host the first derby of the season when the Kaizer Chiefs and Orlando Pirates clash at 15h30 on Saturday afternoon.
