Johannesburg - Mamelodi Sundowns midfielder Teko Modise is backing his former club Orlando Pirates to be crowned MTN8 champions on Saturday.
According to Modise’s official website, the 31-year-old believes that Pirates’ cup final history will prove too much for Kaizer Chiefs and the Sea Robbers will use that as fuel to get one over their fierce rivals.
“I think the team that wants it more at the end of the day will take it. I will go for Orlando Pirates on this one,” said Modise.
“They played a lot of finals last season and they will have the upper hand.”
Modise admits that he envies the two clubs as he would've loved to have played in the final but Sundowns’ first round exit which was handed to them by Platinum Stars means the player has to watch the encounter on the screens.
“It is a sad that we exited the competition early,” said Modise.
“I would have loved to be contending for the trophy and I think that it would have been a confidence booster for the team.”
Orlando Pirates are in action on Saturday, September 20 when they face Kaizer Chiefs at the Moses Mabhida Stadium for the right to take home the MTN8 Cup.
Kick-off is scheduled for 20:15.
