According to goal.com, Lane confesses that in order for the Seas Robbers to compete with Mamelodi Sundowns and Kaizer Chiefs, the Parktown club needs to invest in new players.

"Well, it will be a fresh start for Eric. This will be an opportunity for him to begin the season while in charge of the team," Lane said.

"I think now he knows what type of players he needs in his team. He will definitely have to use the next Transfer Window to beef up the squad."

Lane says with Tinkler having been in Pirates technical area for a number of years, he believes that the former Bafana Bafana midfielder knows “exactly which departments need to be reinforced”.

"So, when the Transfer Window opens, I think he needs to go out there and get new players in order to challenge for honours next season.”
