Johannesburg - Kaizer Chiefs take on Wits in an absolutely crucial Absa Premiership
encounter on Wednesday night.
Kick-off is at 19:30.
According to the soccerladuma website, the Glamour Boys trail Mamelodi Sundowns by six
points with two games in hand in the league.
However, if Chiefs don't pick up a full complement of points against
the Clever Boys, it could give Downs a huge advantage in the final
stretch of the league race.
Wits are also still mathematically in with a chance of challenging for the PSL crown, although it seems the real contenders are Downs and Chiefs.
Nonetheless, if Chiefs aren't able to pick up six points from their two games-in-hand, it would appear that the Brazilians would be more or less out of sight in the final reckoning. Yet, a victory for Gavin Hunt's men could theoretically keep them in the chase.
Chiefs' number 10, Bernard Parker, has emphasised how much the game against the Students means this evening.
He told the club's official website, "Wits is on a high and their confidence is sky high too. I see them looking for a win knowing at the back of their minds that it’s possible for them to win the league as well, said Parker.
"Last week we did the job, we played well and yes it motivated us for
our next league encounter. Every match at this stage is a must win.
Polokwane City was poised to cause an upset by beating us as they are
fighting the relegation battle. The same with Wits who are fighting to
win the league, they too will pose the same challenge, " he added.
