Veterans skip Aces training

Mbombela - Black Aces have confirmed that former SuperSport United veterans Sibusiso Zuma and Rowen Fernandez have stopped training with the club.

The former Bafana Bafana and Arminia Bielefeld duo have been training with Aces alongside Collins Mbesuma since the beginning of the off-season.

Aces confirmed the signing of the Zambian international on a two-year-deal last week.

AmaZayoni spokesperson Gordon Masondo told Sport24 in an exclusive interview on Wednesday that the two veterans are no longer taking part in their training sessions in preparation for the upcoming PSL season.

"I am attending the club training sessions but I haven’t seen any of them since the beginning of the week," said Masando.

"I am not sure if they couldn’t reach an agreement with the club or not.

"But what I can tell you now is that they are no longer training with the team.

Both players were released by Matsatsantsa at the end of last season.

Should Zuma, 39, and Fernandez, 36, fail to sign for any team this season, it could signal the end of their respective football careers.

No! I think the smart thing to do is start again with a younger skipper ...

I'd keep Siya captain for now, but look to have someone else for 2027.
