Cape Town - Two quick goals from Daine Klate and Henrico Botes in extra-time helped Bidvest Wits book their place in the semi-finals of the MTN8 at the expense of Supersport United at the Bidvest Stadium on Tuesday night.
Wits won 3-1 after the teams were dead-locked at 1-1 after 90 minutes.
Wits went ahead just three minutes into the match with Sibusiso Vilakazi beating goalkeeper Ronwen Williams for the opening goal of the match.
The goal worked wonders for Wits who managed to take control of the match for the better part of the first half.
Wits also looked solid in defence and didn't allow SuperSport to penetrate their defence which was ably led by Thulani Hlatshwayo and Buhle Mkhwanazi, as the Clever Boys held on to their lead into the half-time break.
The second half started at a slow pace with Wits looking to protect their lead, while SuperSport hunted the equaliser.
Against the run of play SuperSport got back into the game when Jeremy Brockie showed his goal scoring instincts by heading home a long ball from Dove Wome.
Wits were then dealt a blow as Mkhwanazi was sent off for a second bookable offence having committed an unnecessary tackle on Brockie.
SuperSport's second half substitute, Kingston Nkhatha, was also sent off shortly afterwards for insulting the referee.
The match ended 1-1 and had to be settled in extra time where Klate and Botes added the second and third goals respectively to win the match for Wits.
