Johannesburg - Wits and Kaizer Chiefs will meet for a vital PSL clash at the Bidvest Stadium on Wednesday evening.
Kick-off is at 7:30pm.
With Mamelodi Sundowns six points clear at the top of the standings the Amakhosi will be eager to half the deficit while the Clever Boys will be aiming to keep their slim hopes of lifting the league title alive.
Wits saw their winning run end at four matches when they were held to a goalless draw by SuperSport United at the weekend.
Gavin Hunt's men trail the Brazilians by 10 points and will need nothing less than maximum points if they were to stay in the title race.
Wits fullback Katlego Pule has emphasized that the Braamfontein based outfit aren’t out of the title race as yet and that they still harbour hopes of lifting the league title.
"The game is very important for both sides and we will be eager to win to consolidate second spot and keep our hopes alive of maybe even winning the league, anything is possible," explained Pule.
"Chiefs come here with the same mentality as they will be aiming to keep their title hopes alive, so we are expecting a tough game.
Pule reserved special praise for former coach Clive Barker and current Wits mentor Gavin Hunt who have changed the clubs fortunes around.
"Both coaches approach is different, but both did and have done very well at the club, Hunt has given us a winning mentality and we are confident that we can win every game," concluded the 23-year-old right-back.
Chiefs midfielder George Maluleka earmarked the midweek encounter as one of the club’s most important games this season as they look to defend their league title.
"It is definitely a must win game and one of our most important games of the season, but we mustn't head their thinking that, we should think about playing our normal game and getting the result," said the 25-year-old.
Maluleka, who worked under Hunt at SuperSport United, is expecting a difficult game against a side who have impressed him throughout his career.
"Wits have always done very well in the league, but have often been disappointing towards the end of the season, this season though they have done very well throughout," added Maluleka.
"Coach Gavin is very ambitions and his teams are always difficult to beat and work hard, so it is going to be a difficult game."
In head-to-head stats, Wits and Chiefs have met in 55 league matches since 1985.
The Amakhosi have 27 wins compared to 10 for the Clever Boys, while 18 matches have been drawn.
When the two teams met earlier this season the Glamour Boys registered a 2-1 home win thanks to goals form Kingston Nkhatha and Lehlohonolo Majoro.
