Germany damaged the SWC trophy

Cape Town - The Soccer World Cup winners celebrated their triumph so hard that they ended up damaging the trophy they fought so hard to win.

SBNation report that the most famous piece of soccer history was damaged during the celebrations in Berlin.

They danced. They drank. They sang. And then they broke the Soccer World Cup.

All the pictures from the celebrations.

German federation president Wolgang Niersbach confirmed that after all the song and dance was over they noticed that the trophy was chipped.

Niersbach said the chip was small and he was confident that it would be repaired.

No harm, no foul? Not quite. Germany launched a "thorough" investigation into the incident but came up empty handed.
"We have investigated the incident thoroughly but we did not get a result from that investigation." said Niersbach.
