Cape Town - Spain international Fernando Torres has identified Brazil as the biggest threat ahead of his side's World Cup title defence which starts next week.
While many pundits are adamant that there are several teams which could compete for the world title, Torres is convinced that this year’s tournament will be a two-horse race between the hosts and Spain.
"For me, we are still the favourites to win the World Cup, but in a big tournament the hosts are normally favourites as well," Torres told Goal.com this week.
"The fact they will be playing at home and have a great squad means they will be just as strong. If we win the World Cup we will definitely have earned it," added Torres who hasn’t enjoyed the most successful of domestic seasons this term.
Nevertheless, Torres does hope to play a starring role for the Spaniards during this year’s World Cup title defence and he is confident he can win over the favour of manager Vicente del Bosque from the outset.
"I hope we win the tournament and I hope I play every minute, as I'm sure all of my team-mates do. We all dream of winning the World Cup and playing an important part," said Torres.
