Paire claims first ATP title

Bastad - Benoit Paire of France won his first ATP title on Sunday after beating Spain's Tommy Robredo 7-6 (9/7), 6-3, in the men's final at the Swedish Open.

The 26-year-old saved two set points in the first set tie-break, which he eventually won in 56 minutes on a cool, blustery day.

The Frenchman broke Robredo's serve to lead 4-2 in the second set, and after winning the next two games he secured his maiden title.

Paire reached the final after beating defending champion, Pablo Cuevas, 6-4, 6-3, in 69 minutes on Saturday.

Robredo, 33, who beat 18-year-old German teenager Alexander Zverev 6-3, 6-4, in the other semi-final, was looking for his third victory at Bastad after winning in 2006 and 2008.

I'd keep Siya captain for now, but look to have someone else for 2027.
