PICS: Patricia de Lille splish-splashes with kids at Cape Town beaches

Cape Town - Patricia de Lille, mayor of the Mother City, had a jolly good time over the weekend on Cape Town's beaches, where she launched the Beach Safety plan for the season's bumper time.

De Lille, along with city officials visited the popular Clifton beach in Cape Town to launch of this year’s “I love my beach” campaign, which seeks to keep the city’s 83 beaches clean, safe and alcohol-free over the holidays, reports IOL News. De Lille especially appealed to the public to not use alcohol on beaches, and to keep a close eye on their children. She told IOL News that people who break the law by drinking alcohol on the city's beaches are putting themselves and others at risk.

Te safety pamphlets that were handed out include emergency contact numbers, as well as tips on shark safety and rip currents.

Whilst creating awareness for the Beach Safety plan, De Lille had a whale of a time with the plenty of beach-goers, especially children, who were on the beach as she launched the Safety plan. Photos of the fun in the sun were shared on De Lille Facebook page under the hashtag #ilovemybeach, and #ilovecapetown.

De Lille previously stipulated that scenic routes, key business areas and beaches will be serviced and kept clean even more than usually between November and February, in order to accommodate the full festive season.

According to IOL News, an additional 1 864 Expanded Public Works workers had been hired for cleaning operations over weekends and holidays.
