Cape Town - Throughout history many places have been considered to be 'the axle' around which modern civilization, trade and travel revolved. Venice was once such a prominent post, as was Batavia - or Jakarta, as we now know it, and even the good old Cape of Good Hope here on the southern most tip of Africa.
Times change, though. Business people need to jet around the globe in a matter of hours and therefore look for the most efficient ways to do so.
Therefore, air travel has introduced yet another 'new world'.
A novel map depicting Dubai as the center of the modern 'new world' makes this desert city the new central place from which the entire modern world operates, reports the Australian Business Traveller.
The maps clearly illustrates national airline, Emirates' constant claims that Dubai is situated within a 4 hour flight from a third of the world, and within 8 hours from the remaining two-thirds.
This is what the map looks like:

Emirates will also be flying directly to Budapest come 27 October 2014.
