Cape Town - In the wake of the Germanwings plane crash allegedly caused by the plane's co-pilot, a woman on board another European flight wrote a moving letter to her pilot, thanking him for taking her home safely.
The passenger, only known as Bethanie, thanks the pilot for making it possible for her to be able to see her family in England, and return home after a holiday with a smile on her face.
She acknowledges the recent Germanwings tragedy, saying she "understand[s] how an event as horrific as this one affects those with your [the pilot's] responsibility more than others..."

The Germanwings disaster saw an Airbus carrying 150 people crash in the French Alps on Tuesday, 24 March, leaving no survivors. It is speculated that the co-pilot intentionally crashed the plane after locking out the pilot from the cock-pit.
Since the disaster, most of the major airlines have enforced a 'two-person' rule in their cockpit, which by law orders that there be more than one official pilot or co-pilot in the cockpit at all times.

On Saturday evening, 28 March, four days after the Germanwings crash, an Air Cananda Airbus made a crash landing in a snowstorm in Halifax, Canada.
Miraculously, there were no fatalities, although passengers feared for their lives when the plane skid and bounced and lost its engine upon making impact on the tarmac.
