Earn cheap flights by doing odd airport jobs

Cape Town - If you've ever wished you could just help wash up instead of paying for a meal at a restaurant, we have some good news for you.

Cheapflights.co.za has announced cheaper flights for passengers who are willing to “muck in to save bucks”.

Travellers can save up to R930 on selected routes for helping crews on selected airlines with odd jobs around the airport and on board the aircraft.

Cheapflights travel expert Ben Rosier says the size of the discount is dependent on how willing passengers are to assist airline staff.

“Travellers can choose from a range of duties including loading their own luggage, leading safety demonstrations, preparing cabin food and keeping the aircraft cabin and toilets clean,” says Rosier.

Cheapflights, one of the world’s leading flight comparison websites, has added some new technology to its website including “Barter Value” functionality as an alternative to its popular “Smart Value” feature.

Barter Value helps customers determine how much their contribution could be worth in Rand savings. Passengers can save R370 for collecting trays, entertaining unruly children or helping in the galley right through to R930 for loading and unloading luggage.

“People will go to extraordinary lengths to save money on travel and in this new age of budget-travel, people don’t mind rolling their sleeves up and mucking in, if it means they will save themselves a few bucks,” he said.

The promotion is available on the Cheapflights website for bookings made before midday on 1^st April 2015.  The offer is available for passengers over the age of 21 with a resilient attitude and a good sense of humour.
