Netwerk24 reports that Mary-Ann de Villiers, one of the passengers on board the flight, described how the aircraft had already started taxiing toward the runway when it suddenly came to a standstill.
According to the report, a passenger in a neighbouring airplane noticed the open oil valve and alert authorities.

According to De Villiers the captain announced the delay shortly after he had brought the plane to a stop and told passengers that it could have caused an explosion had they continued with take-off.
After waiting on the tarmac for 40 minutes, the flight was finally cleared for takeoff and landed safely in Cape Town.
