Lanseria launches Wi-Fi for passengers

Cape Town – Life has just gotten a bit easier for travellers moving through Joburg’s Lanseria International Airport, with the launch of a brand new Wi-Fi zone earlier this month.

The Wi-Fi zone, powered by MWeb, is more than just a hot spot, as it designates a large area with multiple access points, making it much more accessible and easier to use.

Lanseria CEO Gavin Sayce said that they were happy to launch the new Wi-Fi service, as they know how important it is for travellers to stay connected during their transit.

He said that there is a great demand for international airports, especially, to provide connectivity solutions for passengers, as it is often needed to conduct business communication or travel-related administration.

Instant internet access through Wi-Fi has added a new dimension to killing time in travel limbo effectively. While 3G data can be expensive, slow and unpredictable, Wi-Fi delivers fast and reliable access to the internet emails and more. It has become the must-have feature for airports serious about keeping passengers happy.

“Today’s air passenger is very connected. Smart phones, laptops and tablets are a must-have accessory for travelers, because it keeps them in touch with their world - even when stuck in an airport lobby,” said MWeb Wi-Fi General Manager, Nathier Kasu. “MWEB has recognised this demand and invested in bringing its world-class Internet experience to savvy users.”

For a limited period, passengers at Lanseria International Airport can enjoy free high-speed uncapped WiFi internet. The MWEB Wi-Fi zone at Lanseria International Airport blankets 97% of the facility, so passengers never risk losing coverage.

MWeb WiFi has also launched the MWeb WiFi Unwired Spacelounge, which will be on display at Lanseria over the December season.
