Well, according to the Happy Planet Index (HPI), it doesn't compare very well at all!
While the world happiness survey was conducted a couple of years ago, a map put together by MoveHub recently once again highlighted the disparities in the levels of contentment in countries around the globe.
It also proves once the HPI's premise that happiness does not necessarily relate to how wealthy or important a country is, but rather how long their citizens lives are and how highly they regard the well-being of the environment.
Based on this the US and Canada's happiness pale in comparison to that of Mexico, Turkey, Vietnam and Costa Rica, which tops the list. According to these measurements, the whole of Southern Africa is pretty dismal indeed, with our very own South Africa seeming to be the unhappiest of all.
Not cool!
