New MyCiti shuttle service launched in Cape Town

Cape Town - In an exciting new venture to reduce the amount of traffic on Tafelberg Road en route the Table Mountain Cableway, the Cableway and the City of Cape Town has launched a new dedicated MyCiti shuttle service there.

The new service links the Cableway's Lower Station to the MyCiti bus stop at Kloof Nek Road. Table Mountain Aerial Cableway is co-funding this dedicated shuttle which operates from 07:00 (07:30 in Winter) to 19:00 daily.

Visitors who are on the mountain after 19:00 should take a taxi to the Kloof Nek Road Station, or their desired destination.

The service only runs to and from the Kloof Nek Road bus station, so commuters should still take the 106 or 107 MyCiti bus to the Kloof Nek Road station, and from there they can get on the dedicated shuttle to the Cableway.

The service costs only R6.30 (Movers) or R8.90 (Standard) during peak times, and R4.80 (Movers) or R6.80 (Standard) outside of peak hours. Peak times stretch from 06:30 - 08:30 and 16:00 - 18:00 during week days.

Sabine Lehmann, MD of the Table Mountain Aerial Cableway Company, says they have agreed to co-fund the project for the next 3 years in order for it to survive and remain at a low price - even during the quieter times. She says, "By co-funding operational cost we ensure that visitors only have to pay standard MyCiti fares".
