Cape Town - US landmarks have really been hit hard by sub-zero winter temperatures! First there was the Grand Canyon that had a dusting of snow, then the Niagara Falls all iced up and now a frozen Hudson River.
The Daily Mail reports that New York City is currently experiencing what many believe to be the worst winter in 28 years, with the ice covering both the Hudson and East Rivers serving as proof.
According to IBT ice floes up to 45cm thick have been floating along the surface of the river and the US coastguard is regularly cutting through the ice to ensure that it does not become a solid mass.
The East River ferry service between Manhattan, Queens, and Brooklyn was shut down on Tuesday 24 February, to protect its engines from being damaged by the ice.
The incredible site has had people snapping away and sharing their pics on social media networks.
