Cape Town – Could it be that a young schoolgirl has managed to capture an apparition long rumoured to have haunted the corridors of Hampton Court Palace in London?
Daily Mail reports that during a visit to the 16th century royal home, Holly Hampsheir (12) thought she was taking a pretty standard picture of her cousin, Brook with her iPhone, only to find something strange about it while looking through the photos later.
Frozen in the frame, Brook is unwittingly towered over by a tall woman with dark hair and a full length black gown. In the next image, the figure is gone.
Since news of the chilling image started doing the rounds, people are saying that Hampsheir has managed to capture the ghost of Dame Sybil Penn, or the Grey Lady, as she is known on camera.
Dame Sybil, who died from smallpox in 1562, is rumoured to haunt the corridors of Hampton Court for over 200 years now.
Sightings of her ghost began to be reported in 1829 when the church at the palace was rebuilt and her tomb moved.
