Go for some really cheap retail therapy
If you’re smart, you put a little cash away to spend on Boxing Day. We all know all the shops have their Big Christmas blow-outs on the day after Christmas and this is where you’ll snatch up all the bargains – and you can buy those things your hubby/wifey didn’t get you for Christmas. You know that shirt you wanted for R1000? It now costs R400 and it’s still as beautiful as ever. Wait out the Christmas rush and get everything you wanted for Christmas.
Go to the Beach
If your bank balance is R0.00 after Christmas the beach will be your hide-out for the next few days. Make sarmies with Christmas leftovers, make some ice-tea and take your favourite book along to the enjoy the South African sun and summer, guilt-free.

Go run
Even if you don’t want to, you’ll thank yourself afterwards. It’s easy to overeat during the festive season to a point where you can’t remember when last you actually felt HUNGRY. Not peckish, hungry. Avoid that stuffed-turkey feeling by going for a jog, or run, or hike or even a marathon to get your guts going again.

Go traditional
Boxing Day was traditionally a day devoted to servants and employees. Employers would reward workers with a festive meal, a gift, or any other kind gesture to thank them for their hard work throughout the year. If you’re in a senior position at work, or have any people depending on you for an income, why not honour them for their devotion the traditional way?

Go watch some cricket
Nothing says “holiday” like a 5-day international. Whether you’re watching lazily from your living room couch, or packing a picnic to enjoy at the venue for the day, this is the sport-lover’s way to celebrate Boxing Day.
