Why it's perfectly fine to love makeup

accreditation
Women from around the world have taken to social media, posting selfies under the now viral hashtag, #PowerOfMakeup. It has in fact become a full-on movement. The hashtag saw thousands of women taking pictures of themselves showing their half made-up faces.

According to The Telegraph, the movement started by YouTube beauty vlogger, Nikkie, was designed to tell the world that putting on makeup shouldn't be something women should be ashamed of.

Within hours of Nikkie posting the video, the hashtag went viral on Twitter and Instagram with women proclaiming how much they love makeup. It’s all about being true to oneself and feeling comfortable in your own skin.

Going out of my comfort zone to address an issue I and many other women have been exposed to. From Cleopatra's eyeliner to Marylin Monroe's lipstick, makeup has been a woman's best friend since the Dawn of time. However, many girl are being told that wearing makeup is wrong and is a sign of weakness. We shouldn't put concealer on that zit because it's hiding your face, we shouldn't put on eyeshadow because it's deceiving men. Frankly any man who thinks my eyelids are naturally golden is stupid. What I'm trying to say is both sides of my face in the picture is beautiful. I would never wear this much makeup everyday but, if another wants to, it's not my place to say she can't. Makeup is an art and my face is my canvas. I will express myself the way I want to and no one will tell me no. To the girl who are facing this humiliation, stand up for yourselves and be strong and to the antagonist who cause this humiliation, look at yourself in the mirror and ask if you would tell DaVinci to stop painting the Mona Lisa. Makeup is my passion and I'm not afraid to use it. #powerofmakeup
