We found this video on Plus Model Mag, which shows the great things that women have done in the media this year, but also shows how much negativity, and blatant sexism there is towards women in movies, TV, and the news.
The Representation Project, who created the video, is a movement that uses film and media content to expose injustices created by gender stereotypes and to shift people’s consciousness towards change, according to their mission statement on their website.
When I first watched the video, I was overjoyed by all the great things that women have done this year, and surprised by how many of them didn’t get the exposure they deserved.
But, of course, anything “sexy” received much more attention.
It’s definitely time for an organisation like the Representation Project to start showing women, and the rest of the world, how awesome we really are without having to use our bodies to get our point across
