2015 MV Agusta Stradale 800 Tourer - go!

JOHANNESBURG, Gauteng - If riding for 10 hours a day on an MV Agusta Rivale sounds OK to you then the added luggage system and windscreen on the new MV Agusta Stradale 800 Tourer should definitely make you smile.

The Tourer has just arrived in South Africa.

Craig Langton of motorcycle importer and dealer Cayenne explained: “The new Stradale 800 Tourer is really something, making it the classiest tourer in the world - at least that's what the media said at the Milan show where it was recently launched."

ELECTRONIC SHIFTING

He added: “We have launched this new model at R159 900 inclusive of all the added value offers, such as a three-year free service plan, zero deposit, as long as 72 months to pay, guaranteed trade-in above book value, guaranteed buy-back at 60% after three years and 24-hour roadside assistant.”

The 2015 Stradale has 86kW at 11 000rpm and maximum torque of 78.5Nm, its data sheet says. It comes with electronically assisted shifting, eight levels of traction control and four mappings for traction control.

As far as suspensions go, the 2015 MV Agusta Stradale 800 is equipped with the same array of Marzocchi forks and a Sachs rear damper, with unchanged travel figures. The ground clearance appears to have also been slightly reduced, and this makes the 870mm tall seat more accessible to more riders.

'CLASS ITALIAN MACHINE'

The frame is made of steel-tube trellis tube, braking uses dual 320mm front discs and a single 220mm rear disc, all equipped with Bosch anti-lock - the same unit is on the new 800 RR machine with rear wheel-lift mitigation.

"The moment when MV Agusta goes adventure," Langton added, "will still have to wait a bit. The 2015 Stradale 800 is more of a Ducati Hyperstrada, touring gear added to the base version of a bike, and changing one or two digits in the price figure.

“Here is a class Italian machine with a touring package that stands way ahead of its competition for looks, style, performance and handling. We're already taking orders, though, so if this machine is for you, then you will need to reserve it now.”
