Stefano Domenicali has resigned as Ferrari F1 team principal. He will be replaced by Marco Mattiacci, president and CEO of Ferrari North America, reports Ferrari.
Ferrari said: "Ferrari notes the resignation of Stefano Domenicali and thanks him for having served the company for 23 years."
Domenicali, who joined the team in 1991, has been team principal at Ferrari since 2008, having previously worked in an administrative role before becoming the team's sporting director. The team has not won a World championship since he took the helm.
FERRARI'S GP STRUGGLES
Domenicali has shouldered the blame for the team's poor performance in 2014: "It is time for a significant change. As the boss, I take responsibility, as I have always done, for our current situation.
"I hope that very soon, Ferrari will be back to where it deserves to be."
Ferrari made a disappointing start to the 2014 Formula 1 season, with two fourth places for Fernando Alonso the team's best results so far.
Ferrari also struggled during testing in Bahrain earlier in April 2014, with Alonso retiring early from the Sakhir track during both sessions.
Mercedes dominated the opening three races (Bahrain, Malaysia, Australia) of the 2014 F1 season.
